Abstract

Abstract. The article shows an effective variant of the educational psychologists’ internship in the field of competence development of psychological and pedagogical support for children with intellectual disabilities. The article demonstrates principles and methods of work of educational psychologists in a special school for people with intellectual disabilities (VIII type), including the ways of professional development of students within the framework of industrial pedagogical internship. The types of activities of an educational psychologist are presented. The authors identified the specifics of the students’ development with listed problems. The types of diagnostic tasks are highlighted. The psychological and pedagogical consultation is described as a way of professional interaction of an educational psychologist with teachers and defectologists within the framework of the main areas of work of specialists of the psychological, medical and pedagogical consultation of the school, which aims to support children with intellectual disabilities. The consultation is also defined as a source of competence development for students who are to become educational psychologists in the future. Corrective measures aimed at overcoming the identified violations are proposed, and forms of interaction of specialists are shown.
The article demonstrates the effectiveness of the development of students' competencies based
on their self-esteem.
